ADEK Issues Updated Distance Learning Guidance to Ensure Continuity of Education Until April 17

Following an extensive meeting dedicated to advancing Abu Dhabi's educational landscape, the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has issued updated guidance on distance learning, outlining the roles and responsibilities of both schools and families.

This update comes in line with the continuation of distance learning until April 17, 2026, to ensure the continuity of the educational process and safeguard student wellbeing.

Why Were These New Policies Introduced?

  • Enhance communication between schools and families

  • Support students academically and emotionally

  • Reinforce consistent attendance and active participation in the distance learning environment

Responsibilities Across Schools and Families

ADEK has defined the responsibilities under two main tracks: school responsibilities and family responsibilities, as follows:

School Responsibilities

  • Taking full responsibility for delivering lessons to students (except Kindergarten), without placing the burden on families

  • Providing families with a daily schedule that includes interactive lessons, self-learning activities, and screen-free breaks

  • Delivering at least 45 minutes of physical education weekly, while monitoring students’ safety and wellbeing

  • Recording daily attendance and following up on absences through official school communication channels

  • Maintaining effective communication with families and providing the necessary technical support to ensure continuity of learning

Family Responsibilities

  • Parents are expected to leave teaching and guidance to teachers without interfering during classes (except for Kindergarten)

  • Supporting students by establishing a consistent daily routine, providing a suitable device, and ensuring a quiet study environment

  • Ensuring students get adequate rest, engage in at least 30 minutes of daily physical activity, and maintain social interaction

  • Following school updates and requirements through one main official communication channel

  • Communicating with teachers through official channels and allowing sufficient time for responses during working hours

How Does Schoolvoice Meet the Single-Channel Communication Requirement?

With ADEK emphasizing the importance of families staying informed through one main official communication channel, this highlights the need for a reliable and structured communication platform.

In this context, Schoolvoice provides a structured solution that supports schools in implementing these requirements by:

  • Managing all communication through one secure and official platform

  • Enabling interactive communication with families through Schoolvoice’s Actionable Messages

  • Providing teachers with a dedicated space to upload and share learning materials

  • Supporting student engagement through interactive challenges that promote positive behaviour and strengthen their sense of national belonging

  • Sending instant alerts and daily schedules reliably
